Private Lesson Scholarships Application

The lesson application period is now closed for the FALL '24 semester. it will reopen in november for the Spring '25 semester.

Scholarship Details

To be eligible for one of the below scholarships, you must be enrolled in a music course or ensemble (in addition to the lesson in question, and based on the specific scholarship) during the semester for which you are applying, and you must maintain a grade of B or better in all MU and MP courses. You DO NOT have to be a Music Major to be eligible for a scholarship. A recommendation by your private lesson instructor is required. 

Freeman Scholarships (need-based scholarships) are awarded in varying amounts: 1/3, 2/3, and full. The amount you receive is dependent upon the information received from the Financial Aid Office as to need. Scholarships are awarded on a per-semester basis and as such need to be reapplied for each semester. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in any music course, other than lessons, as well as have demonstrated high financial need.

ELM Orchestra and ELM Chamber Music Scholarshipsmay be available for students in orchestra and chamber ensembles. These scholarships may, or may not, be contingent on financial need. Scholarships are awarded on a per-semester basis and as such need to be reapplied for each semester. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in an ensemble in which you'd play the same instrument as in your private lessons.

Incoming first years and students taking lessons for the first time at Skidmore may apply for a lesson scholarship. They must contact the respective Skidmore private lesson teacher for permission. The teacher can then write a recommendation for the student. All other eligibility rules apply.
