Skidmore Retirees

Judy Parks

Judy Parks, who served Skidmore for two decades until her retirement as payroll supervisor in 1997, died on April 28, 2024. She was 83.

Judy joined Skidmore in 1977 and served the College in many capacities: as a clerk and cashier in the Book Shop, secretary in Food Service, cashier and clerk in the Business Office, and benefits clerk in Financial Services. She was promoted to payroll supervisor in 1988.

“Judy was so friendly, kind, and patient — and she seemed unflappable in the work that she did for Skidmore,” recalled Assistant Director of Human Resources Nancy Bruno, who worked closely with Judy. “I was just learning at the time. Judy was always patient and assuring as she taught me. She helped me learn so much about our workplace here at Skidmore.”

Born on Feb. 20, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs. In 1960, she married Allen J. Parks, who predeceased her.

Two of her children, Maintenance Mechanic Dwayne Parks and Safety Systems Administrator Lori Parks, are Skidmore employees. She is also survived by her son Scott Parks and granddaughter Sophie Parks ’18.
