Paul Arciero, professor of health and human physiological sciences, published "Intermittent fasting and protein pacing are superior to caloric restriction for weight and visceral fat loss" in , the fifth-ranked Nutrition and Dietetics journal in the world. Senior Instructor Karen Arciero and Associate Professor Stephen Ives of the Health and Human Physiological Sciences Department were co-authors.   

Jill Linz, senior instructor of physics, published an article, 鈥�,鈥� in Physics Magazine (Jan. 9), highlighting the audible periodic table she produced as part of her Atom Music project. The audible periodic table was presented at the 183rd meeting of the Acoustical Society of America on Dec. 8, 2022.  

Two compositions by Evan Mack, senior teaching professor of music, were performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra and iSing International Young Artists Festival at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, marking the American premiere of both works. Mack鈥檚 pieces premiered in Suzhou, China in 2020. 

Nadia Marin-Guadarrama, visiting assistant professor of anthropology, has published the chapter "Los Rituales de Bebes en Textos en Lengua Nahuatl: Espacios de Negociacion Colonial (Baby Rituals in Nahuatl Texts: Spaces for Colonial Negotiation)鈥� in the book 鈥�,鈥� edited by Berenice Alcantara Rojas, Mario Sanchez Aguilera, and Tesiu Rojas Xelhuantzi.  

Juan Navea, professor of chemistry, and students Aida Caselblanco '23 and Emily Davis '23 co-authored a paper, in the journal Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences. Navea and students Heather Ricker '22 and Angelina Leonardi '21 published in the journal Earth and Space Chemistry. The article was highlighted in the cover of the issue. Navea was also interviewed for the American Chemical Society .  

Tammy C. Owens, assistant professor of American studies, was interviewed by , discussing her participation in MLK weekend events in Saratoga Springs. In the interview and during her panel conversation alongside Assistant Professor of Political Science Emmanuel Balogun, Owens discussed how Martin Luther King Jr. weekend celebration events are important opportunities to reflect on and celebrate the creative contributions of black women and girls.  

Joowon Park, assistant professor of anthropology, received a $29,000 grant from ASIANetwork. The award will allow Park to take four Skidmore students to South Korea in the summer for ethnographic fieldwork. 

Janelle Sadarananda, visiting assistant professor of classics, presented her research on the site of ancient Eleon, Greece, at the Archaeological Institute of America/Society for Classical Studies Joint Annual Meeting. 

Masami Tamagawa, senior teaching professor of Japanese, published a new book, 鈥�.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

Peter von Allmen, David H. Porter professor of economics, and co-authors Michael Leeds (Temple University) and Victor Matheson (Holy Cross) published the seventh edition of their textbook 鈥溾�� (Routledge). First published in 2000, the book has evolved substantially over the past 23 years, including the addition of a chapter on the economics of sports gambling, new to this edition. The book has been translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Greek, as well as produced in an international edition in English.
