David Howson, teaching professor of arts administration, has been appointed to the theater panel. The panel is in charge of reviewing grant applications for theater companies across the state and awarding part of the $41M in NYSCA state-appropriated funds.

Evan Mack, teaching professor of music, will have two of his works performed during the in Troy at the beginning of June. At 7:30 p.m. on June 1, the Albany Symphony Orchestra ensemble will perform Mack's song cycle Preach Sister, Preach at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at RPI. At 7:30 p.m. on June 3, the orchestra, featuring the Finger Lakes Guitar Quartet (which includes Skidmore faculty Joel Brown and Brett Grigsby) will premiere Mack's new work Forever Wild at . For the finale, Mack says, "" to join in.

Maria McColl, associate director of institutes in the Office of the Dean of Special Programs, has been appointed to the dance program panel.
 

Publications and Exhibitions

Sara Lagalwar, assistant professor of neuroscience, had a paper accepted for publication by the journal Neurobiology of Disease titled "" with co-authors Nicholas Toker '15 (now a neuroscience Ph.D. student at the University of Vermont) and colleagues from the University of Minnesota and Baylor College of Medicine. The study investigates novel molecular and genetic changes in the Purkinje neurons of the cerebellum during disease that underlie ataxia, defined as dysfunction of balance and motor coordination.

Sheldon Solomon, professor of psychology, was interviewed for a May 21 story on the BBC's The Why Factor program titled "." The program aired on the BBC World Service and will be available for listening online.
