Spring 2024 COVID-19 updates

Amid a recent uptick in cases of COVID-19, the COVID-19 Logistics Working Group encourages all members of the Skidmore community to review these measures, shared by email on Jan. 19, to help keep our campus community safe. Masking is now required in both Health Services and the Counseling Center. ‌If you are sick or have been exposed to COVID-19, please mask up and test. ‌Students should review these guidelines for self-reporting and isolation. Employees must inform their supervisor or department chair, email Human Resources, and follow . Employees are also encouraged to review Skidmore’s policies about absences, including caring for dependents who may be ill. Updated health and safety guidelines for faculty were sent by email on Jan. 19.

Announcements

President’s office hours 

‌President Conner will hold office hours from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, and from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 4. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to request a 10-minute, in-person appointment. To register, please email presoff@skidmore.edu. Requests will be handled in the order that they are received.

Tang ROOM•MATE lottery 

‌Skidmore students interested in borrowing work from the Tang collection for the spring semester are invited to attend at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1. Students are asked to bring their Skidmore ID, which will be selected from a hat to determine who is able to choose from the 20 works that are now available.

‌Winter Celebration 2024

‌Join Skidmore friends and colleagues from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, for an evening of dining and dancing at Saratoga Springs City Center. There is no charge for Skidmore employees and retirees. The guest fee is $25. by Monday, Jan. 29.

‌Employee fitness class registration is open

‌Registration for employee fitness classes is open. Classes start on Saturday, Feb. 3, and run for 10 weeks. or contact Lacey Lageteau with questions. ‌

‌Dining Services mountain bike raffle 

‌Dining Services will be partnering with Pepsi to raffle off a mountain bike. To enter the raffle, purchase two Celsius energy drinks between now and the end of March at the Spa or the Atrium Cafe. Please visit the regularly for updates, , hours of operation, and other information.

‌Tang Teaching Museum ‌January updates ‌ ‌

‌Many of the Tang Teaching Museum’s galleries will be closed in January as new exhibitions are prepared. An for “,” “,” and “” will take place on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Winter intramurals ‌ ‌

‌Registration for co-ed intramural soccer is open through noon Friday, Jan. 26. Varsity soccer will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. JV soccer will take place at the same times on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All rosters must comply with roster rules to be accepted into the league; no late adds will be accepted. Games will begin the week of Jan. 20 and playoffs will conclude the week prior to spring break. , or contact Elizabeth Ghilardi with questions. ‌

‌Kids Night Out

‌Kids ages 5 to 13 are invited to come enjoy well-supervised recreational activities provided by the great facilities of 91¶¶Ňů’s Williamson Sports Center 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. No pre-registration is necessary. Cost is $10 per child. For more information, email Ron Plourde

Athletics News

The Big Green Scream returns Friday, Feb. 9, when the men’s and women’s basketball teams host Hobart and William Smith. The women tip at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. The first 250 fans at each game will receive a collectable t-shirt. There will also be several in-game contests and prizes, including a Skidmore Shop gift card. Recycle Mania returns to help make the night a zero waste event. The event is presented by Skidmore Athletics, Friends of Skidmore Athletics, Residential Life, SAAC, SGA, Sustainable Skidmore, Alumni Relations and College events, Skidmore Shop and Senior Cord.
