Skidmore Seal

Skidmore will be hosting a national on April 14 and 15. Speakers include Danielle Allen, James Bryant Conant University Professor and Director of the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University; Michael Roth, president of Wesleyan University; and David Brooks, New York Times op-ed columnist, author, and commentator. Daniel T. Konstalid named VP for finance and administration, treasurer

Daniel T. Konstalid, an experienced senior financial officer with an extensive background in higher education, has been appointed vice president for finance and administration and treasurer at 91.

Skidmore defeated Ithaca College 54-52 in the Liberty League Championship, securing its third Liberty League title and advancing to the NCAA tournament.

President’s office hours

President Conner will hold open office hours from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, and from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18. Christina Montville joins Skidmore from Florida International University after serving most recently as associate director of residential life. She has held positions in residential life at Teachers College, Columbia University, Dickinson College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Lycoming College. Registration for summer sports camps

Registration for summer sports camps is now open. Camps are led by Skidmore coaches, and children learn teamwork concepts while acquiring skills in the sport of their choice. Choose from baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, and volleyball. Contact Coleen Stephenson for more information.

 

Students invited to the Tang Party Big Meeting on March 5

Construction update

Skidmore is moving forward on its new health, wellness, fitness, tennis, and athletics center project. Starting the week of March 6, a construction fence will be installed that will include the parking lot for the former site of Greenberg Child Care Center, which will be inaccessible to members of the campus community for the duration of the project. Digging to prepare for future rock removal and drilling to begin for rock removal will also commence. Additional updates will be provided as work continues. Campus exterior door safety improvements

Facilities, Information Technology, and Campus Safety are working with vendors to improve the security of campus buildings through the installation of electronic locks. There will be times when doors are left with temporary lock/unlock solutions, until the hardware, wiring, and system programing all catch up. Please be assured that every exterior door will be left in a lockable condition each night. Please refer to the email distributed on Feb. 24 for details. March staff meeting

The next staff meeting will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the second floor of the Murray-Aikins Dining Hall. The agenda is posted here. Summer Experience Fund applications

Applications are now open for the Summer Experience Fund (SEF), which provides grants of $4,000 to support students completing unpaid summer experiences. First-year students, sophomores, and juniors enrolled in classes during the 2023 spring semester and 2023 fall semester are eligible to apply. Qualifying experiences include internships, community service work, apprenticeships, research, and independent projects. Summer course registration is now open

Athletics News

The 91 women's basketball team continues its record-setting season on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Johns Hopkins University (21-6) at Tufts University in the first round of the 64-team NCAA Division III tournament. Tufts (21-6) will play Merchant Marine (24-2) at 6:30 p.m. The pod winners will play Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The Thoroughbreds have won a program-record 22 games, taking a 22-5 record into the tournament. Skidmore beat Ithaca College 54-52 to win the Liberty League Championship and the automatic bid. Learn more on the .
