Dan encouraged CEPP members to attend one of the Assessment Steering Committee Workshops on May 11 and 13. Dan, Bob, Erica, and Kyle were going to attend. There was also a brief discussion of the status of the Assessment Steering Committee Learning Goals document. II. Curriculum Committee: IN 100, Internships, and Variable Credit Hours CEPP agreed that the issue of variable credit hours for internships was a CEPP issue. We agreed that flexibility in internships is a positive development and CEPP is supportive of creative ways of helping the students move along. Dan was going to survey Ann Henderson, Michael Ennis-McMillan, Tim Harper, and Muriel Poston about their views on variable credit. III. On-line course process: Ann Hendersons feedback Dan shared Ann Hendersons memo about Oberlins guidelines for accepting credit for on-line courses. It was agreed that the issue of accepting on-line courses for credits deserves further thought and would be part of the May 7 CEPP Retreat agenda and should be part of a broader conversation about on-line learning next year. Discuss budget planning and academic priorities CEPP discussed the VPAAs Academic Affairs Budget Priorities and Planning memorandum and its reception at Academic Staff. There was a discussion about whether rigorous assessment belonged in Academic Excellence Goal or in the Process section and what role assessment should play in reallocating resources. Meeting was adjourned at 10:00 am. Respectfully submitted, Robert C.
