Minutes from the November 3, 2008 meeting were approved with revisions. II. CEPP discussed how to provide information about the pilot Mysore, India program to the faculty as it relates to the termination of Skidmores affiliation with the NYSICCSI program. CEPP discussed having the Mysore program information posted on CEPPs, ACOPs and OCSEs websites. It needs to be made clear that the faculty are only voting on the termination of the NYSICCSI program, and that the pilot Mysore program will fill the void for the next two years, at which time it will be evaluated. CEPP had a lengthy discussion about online education at Skidmore. Most of the conversation focused on two issues: 1) should Skidmore allow students to receive credit for online course work taken at other institutions, and 2) the delivery of online courses for residential students. Some of the topics that CEPP discussed were: the role of online education for residential students as opposed to non-traditional students, transfer credit for online courses, the amount of work to deliver an online course, pedagogical techniques, student interest, parent interest, summer classes, skill sets developed during online education, potential limits to online credit, and the possibility that CEPP may not need to mandate an online course requirement, simply permit the delivery of these kinds of classes. CEPP discussed its role in online education at Skidmore. The consensus was that CEPP should foster a conversation with the community. The meeting was adjourned at 10 AM.
