Middle States (final recommendations document): Sarah Goodwin and Chris McGill Distributed today: website complete, SG & CMcG presented to Academic Staff this morning CEPP will have a Q&A meeting with Middle States Review Committee along with other faculty from FEC and IPPC. SG: Wants faculty who have read the report and have been involved in its development to meet with the MSRC in order to show that the community has been involved. Hopes to take advantage of the expertise of the members of the MSRC Discussion of the individual members of the review committee, their expertise, and what they can contribute to the conversation. Issues: faculty and student diversity, the sciences in a liberal-arts context, student retention, collaborative research, staffing 100-200-level classes, Importance of institutional prerogatives, etc. When will we assess the process and product? The MSRC will prepare their report before they leave (Tuesday) Scheduling CEPP in Fall 2006 MH asks that everyone resubmit his/her fall schedules so that he can find another time for a meeting. Optimization Report MH will copy the data report for distribution to CEPP (student-faculty ratio) Discussion of questions about class size and prerogatives. Departmental needs. College needs (special programs, interdisciplinary studies programs). Where do resources go? How many faculty members do we need to compensate for reconfiguration? How will we be able to attract faculty unless the compensation package is improved. Discussion of student population size, classroom utilization, and the impact on the programs we offer. What would be the impact on programs, IT, faculty lines of reducing or limiting the student population? CEPP believes that we would like to see resources go towards academic programs. CEPP will make recommendations to the Optimization Taskforce. CEPP will continue the discussion next Wednesday. AP Credits RAL: Could we provide a reference to contextualization information on national trends? MH: Please check on the language about British certificates. CEPP membership (recommendation to FEC re DoF) MH will circulate language on CEPP’s recommendation WRF Pedagogy Workshop (3:30-5:00, 24 Feb 06) Part of the faculty pedagogy workshop series.
